ASIYA BINT MUZAHIM (The Wife of Pharaoh)

Asiya was the wife of Pharaoh who was the greatest tyrant of all the time. She was a woman who never allowed herself to be defined of limited by her painful circumstances, but rather carried in her such a deep faith that she was willing to die for what she believed in.

Asiya was not defined by the wickedness of the man she married and her heart was not a slave to his beliefs. She refused to submit to the tyranny of her arrogant husband, but choose instead to devout her soul and her life to Allah SWT.

SUMAYYAH BINT KHABBAT (First Shaheed of Islam)

Sumayyah had humble beginnings where she was slave. When Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) started to call the people of Makkah to Islam, she was one of the first 7 people to accept his da’wah. Sumayyah and her family were often the targets for the cruelty of the Quraysh.

Abu Jahl, leader of the Quraysh tortured her mentally and physically but she remained unraveled, in the end he thrusted his spear into her and she was killed. She became the first martyr in Islamic history – the first person to become Shaheed (martyr) was a woman.
